I already have the set top Cable box/ DVR run through the computer to my TV with co axial. The problem is it will only record up to 80 hours. I’ve tried using the set top usb to connect it to the computer so it will record with no success.I would like to burn some of my favorites so I can record other stuff.

When you record onto a DVD, you are recording files. What you are getting out of your set top DVR is not files, it is a digital video signal that is designed to display on your television set.

The cable company isn’t going to give you an apparatus that will allow you to pirate the programming they provide. Even if the cable company didn’t care, it is illegal to do that and you would all go to jail.

If you already can watch TV on your computer with a tuner card, you just need recording software to record that.
