How do I connect my lcd computer monitor to my digital/dvr cable box?
Please explain this to me like I am a monkey. I am horrible at hooking up tv’s! I have it powered on, nothing connected.
I would like to make use of the small lcd monitor in the kids play room. It seems like this should work so I wont have to buy an actual tv.

Requirements to directly connect a monitor with a cable box:
1 – The monitor needs to be HDCP-compliant.
2 – The cable box needs to be one of the newer digital HD cable boxes. The old low-definition-only cable boxes do not have any outputs that are compatible with computer monitors.
Digital HD cable boxes have either a DVI or HDMI output, which are compatible with HDCP-compliant computer monitors. When you connect an HDCP-compliant monitor to a digital HD cable box, you turn that monitor into an HDTV.
So check your monitor to see if it is HDCP-compliant or not, and check your cable box and see if it is a digital HD box.
