DISH customers, your dvrs are going to be working overtime in the next year, because there is a boatload of new seasons and series coming. After Thursday’s official announcement that HBO had renewed “True Blood,” “Hung” and “Entourage” (which will all return next summer), come a slew of news about HBO’s other programming:-First up, “The No. 1 Ladies’ Detective Agency”: This show tells the story of a female detective (Jill Scott) who opens up an agency in Botswana. The series is filmed on location in Botswana and is the first major film or television production to be undertaken in the country. Originally conceived as a feature film, the pilot was aired on tv instead, and then followed by a six episode season which started on HBO in March 2009.

The show’s future is up in the air mainly because the creative driving force behind it -executive producer Anthony Minghella – passed away after the pilot finished filming. No word yet on whether it will be back for a second season.-The sketch comedy show “Little Britain USA” will not be coming back as a series but may come back in the form of specials in the future.-”Eastbound and Down” will start shooting a new season “sometime at the end of next spring, end of next winter.”

The comedy series stars Danny McBride as a former professional baseball pitcher who returns home to North Carolina to work as a substitute physical education teacher. HBO hasn’t decided on exactly when it will be back next year but assured that it would be back at some point in 2010.-”Big Love”, the drama series about a Mormon polygamist (Bill Paxton) and his three wives, will be back for a fourth season in January 2010.-New series “Treme”, set in Louisiana’s music community post-Katrina, will most likely be premiering in April 2010. The series stars Steve Zahn and Khandi Alexander.-”Flight of the Conchords” will most likely depend on when stars Jemaine Clement and Bret Mckenzie are ready.

Because they are also writing an album, it may be a little longer than usual.-The psychotherapist/patient drama “In Treatment”, starring Gabriel Byrne, was adapted from an Israeli series which only had two seasons, so now that they have reached a potential season three, HBO would have to branch out with original material if they want to continue. According to HBO execs, they are “trying to put it together.”-The animated comedy series “The Life & Times of Tim” will be back for a second season and is said to be “funnier even than the first.” No word on an official premiere date yet.-The next season of “Curb Your Enthusiasm” will focus on putting together a fictional “Seinfeld” reunion, with the original cast playing themselves on the show within a show. “Curb” will return. New series “Bored To Death”, starring Parker Posey, will premiere the same night.-HBO also confirmed the air dates for two specials – “By the People: The Election of Barack Obama” will air on November 3 and and “Robin Williams: Weapons of Self-Destruction” will air December 6. HBO starts on channel 300 on Dish Network.

Vacation Time Buddies – You And DISH Network’s DVR

April 4, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment

Last year, I went on vacation with my family. When I came home, my buddies told me that I had missed the most important football game of the season, and we also realized we had missed the season finale of our favorite TV show. That was not a good homecoming present.

Now, we could have scheduled our vacation around our favorite television shows, but that requires way too much planning, and seems kind of silly. So how do we make everyone happy? I got a DISH Network DVR. I can make it record shows as far in advance as they are scheduled, so even if something comes on television during the last day of our vacation, I can still program it to record before we even leave! I never have to miss another game winning catch, and now we will always know “who done it” at the end of the season.

Before we had the DVR (back in the olden days), my daughter was on the news one night. Of course, my son had a baseball game, so he and I missed the live newscast. My wife was supposed to tape it. When we got home and tried to watch the tape, it had only recorded static. I never got to see my little girl’s news interview.

This past week, my son’s baseball team was highlighted in the community sports section on the news. I was at work when it aired, but I prerecorded my DVR, and watched it as soon as I got home! Now, I’ll never have to miss anything important on television again (or I won’t have to miss anything fun on television because I’m doing something else important)!

Our DVR has been such an amazing help in coordinating our family time! Not only do we never have to miss important shows, but now we can watch them when we are all together! Scheduling family time can be so difficult these days, especially with everyone’s different and busy schedules, but with our DVR, we never have to schedule our lives around our favorite television shows again!

This year, my family is planning another vacation. I know it is going to be right in the middle of the World Series, but I also know that I can record every game, and watch them at my own leisure when we return. No more missing games, no more missing shows, no more listening to my kids say they missed that new Nickelodeon movie (even though I know it will be replayed a thousand times)!

So if you find yourself working late, running errands, and missing all of your favorite shows, stop hunting around to find webcasts or waiting for reruns. Just call DISH Network and tell them that you want a DVR. They will come set you up with everything you need! DISH Network understands that you have a busy schedule, so not only will they be on time and provide a quick installation, but they will make your life much less complicated. Don’t wait. Call DISH Network today and ask about their monthly specials. Tell them you want a simpler life for a cheaper price, and they can make it happen!

Why Busy American Prefer Dish Tv Dvr?

Satellite TV is one of the most well known forms of TV entertainment that packs in a wide array of features. One of the most well known features of satellite TV is that it allows people to watch programs and movies when they want to watch it and not when the dish channels are showing the programs. It is the DVR feature that allows the TV viewers to enjoy the benefit. It is not only a great feature for the busy people or people on the go but also for the people who do not want to reschedule their life according to their TV schedule.

Many Americans have a very busy schedule of life and they are always trying to manage their time between family, work and friends. Whatever small times they can manage for themselves they employ it for their social lives and hobbies. With such a tight schedule it not possible for one to come back at a scheduled time to watch his or her favorite programs on TV. For this reason the Satellite TV has introduced a brand new feature that allows people to record their favorite programs at the click of a button and they can watch their favorite shows at a time which is the most convenient for them.

The DVR feature is also very useful for people who do to remain busy for long. Sometimes occasions just pop up unexpectedly and even occasions that are periodical and come at regular intervals. For these times, it is also a good thing to have DVR feature installed on your television set. For instance, you have to go out on a Tuesday night without prior notice for a party thrown by a friend or coworker that would more often than not conflict with a sitcom that you have been watching religiously. If you do not have a DVR to record the sitcom, you will have to give the show a miss. But if you do have a DVR at your place, you will be able to record the program with just a click of your remote and watch it when you get back home or at a different time that suits you the most. Or suppose there are two different important games on TV on the same point of time on different channels and you were planning to watch both. At that time a DVR system comes handy. You can record one match while watching the other. You can catch the recorded match after the match you are watching is over.

TV plays an important role in our daily lives. Of course that does not mean that you have to miss some important social event because you cannot miss an important episode of the series you have been following. There is absolutely no need to forego your TV show just because your kid wants to watch animation. It is just one click in the dish TV remote and your TV time is rescheduled according to your schedule.

Dish Dvr Player Vs. Direct Tv

Though dish TV is better than direct TV when it comes in recording live programs. Both possess different qualities while recording aired shows and programs. We can take a sneak peek between the two when it comes while recording the programs and shows.

Comparing Digital Video Recorder Remotes

The dish networks DVR player has a silver remote with buttons in easy positions. The direct TiVo’s are comfortable too, through the placement based on the unit you choose. Both remote includes play, pause, forward, rewind and many more. The dish network has the advantage of 30 second commercial skip button which is pretty slick.

Comparing Digital Video Recorder Guides and Menus

When it comes to menu “coolness”, the direct TiVo wins hands-down and fully- animated and Super friendly. This is largely because it’s been three years of TiVo user testing and improvement. It has the famous TiVo playing menu, show suggestions and a fantastic search function.

This doesn’t mean the dish network DVR player is difficult to use. The user can use it more conveniently. It also has a page listing reordered shows and a good function. When it comes to viewing the program guides, dish TV stands alone. The dish network DVR lets you view a full-screen listing along with live TV in a window. On the other hand the direct TiVo overlays the guide over live TV.

Comparing Digital Video Recorder Recording Capacity

Generally dish TV DVR player starts at 100 hours of recording whereas direct TV TiVo starts at 35 hours of recording.

Comparing Digital Video Recorder Features

The dish DVR player is pretty simple to use when it comes to recording. If you know how to set a DVR by time, date and channel-you have all the knowledge you need. You can even set up weekly or daily recordings.

In contrast, the direct TV TiVo unit really rocks when it comes to record best features. With it you don’t need know date and channel. All you need to know is the show’s name and the DVR will catch every single episode, without repeats, if you want. It’ll even change shows when the times change. Both units have good search function, which allows you to find shows, director, actor and more.

Comparing Digital Video Reordered Technicalities

Both dish TV and direct TV has a standard S-Video output and an optical digital audio. This allows you to have the best quality possible, including Dolby digital sound when it is available. They both record in MPEG video, which is the format in which they receive the shows, so you don’t have any loss in the quality. If that’s not enough, on some direct TV TiVo units, you can even watch and record the broadcasting, for the absolute best quality possible, even in widescreen.

With dish network the DVR services are free with the purchase of dish TV connection. This helps you to record satellite TV programs. Whereas direct TV provides with the same facility to record live satellite programs, but the subscriber needs to pay an additional amount to gain DVR service.

There are several types of golf grips. To improve your game, find out what is the best golf grip for you!

After the sneak peek between the two, dish network is better than direct TV when it comes to record live programs. Though dish network and direct TV perform the same function but with dish TV, the recordings are done much faster and are easy to access.

Dish network channels are not just about entertainment. They are also about holding on to that entertainment for more time than what live satellite TV would permit. Consumers are much curious about the way dish TV recorders function. Direct satellite TV providers fuel this curiosity by featuring the direct video recording facilities dominantly in their advertising literature and other promotional material. And the results are there for everyone to see. Potential customers are signing up with dish network services riding piggyback on the phenomenon called the DVR.

When you are signing up with dish network channels, you are tempted to ask about the DVR facilities. So what is this DVR that has the whole satellite TV sector hooked on its hinges? The DVR is a facility that allows you to pause and record live dish TV. With the ability to record live TV, the DVR opens up a whole new possibility of watching direct satellite TV services. Consumers who feel that it only enables you to record another channel while you watch one, are only limiting the vast possibilities of the DVR. The DVR can be put to more effective use.

Modern DVRs can record more of dish network channels simply because there is more space on the DVR memory bank. Satellite TV movie channels can be recorded as well. So you can record back to back movies and then play them back when you have the time. Dish TV movie channels show classics and blockbusters. You have a wide range of options to choose from. Pick the movies you want to watch and record them. Watch them alone or call your friends over. The excellent quality of images and pictures adds a dash of panache and your friends will be mighty impressed at your home theater.

The same goes for dish network sports freaks. Is there much fun in watching a match all by yourself? Don’t think so? Avail the satellite TV DVR. Record games one after the other from the exclusive dish TV channels. When you cannot visit the stadium with your friends to watch those dreamy home runs, it’s time to relive the experience in the confines of your living space. Direct satellite TV has that same edgy feel to the matches. Cheering with your friends does the rest to set up the mood.

The DVR is a boon for all those busy executives who watch dish network in bits and parts due to time constraints. They can now record satellite TV even when they are busy working in office. They only need to activate the dish TV timer on the satellite TV receiver. Such facilities have made the DVR the apple of the eye for dish network consumers. If you have not tried it out yet, now is the time!

DVR or Digital Video Recorder is a device that allows you to record your favorite television programs on it. The device got a built in hard drive on which all the video files are stored in a specific video format. Dish Network has unveiled various DVR models that are even capable of performing the task of a satellite receiver. For this reason the devices are sometimes referred as DVR Receiver.

Satellite TV receivers act as a link between the communication satellites that are hovering in space and your TV sets. The signals that are transmitted from the satellites are collected by a circular shaped dish antenna and are transmitted to the receiver. In the receiver the high quality digital signals are converted into analog signals and then it gets transferred to the television sets. Since the programs are broadcasted straight away from the satellites therefore satellite TVs are sometimes referred as ‘Direct to Home’ service.

This is how satellite TV works. Let’s talk about the various models of DVR receivers that are currently available for you from the service providers.

Dish Player-DVR 510

Apart from this you’d also get manual or automatic record timers. This model has a 120 GB hard drive that is capable of doing 100 hrs of recording. You can even access the Extended Electronic Program Guide by using this device.

Dish Player – DVR 522

The next model is Dish Player – DVR 522 that is packed with even more feature then DVR 510. This model has two satellite tuners whereas the previous model (DVR – 510) has only one tuner. The dual satellite tuner will allow you to simultaneously record two programs. You can record another program while watching a live television program or you can record two live broadcasts while watching a recorded one. There are several custom program controls such as lists of favorites, whether on demand, information on program and many more. You’ll be getting two platinum plus remote controls along with this DVR model.

HDTV DVR 921

The DVR model of digital video recorder is HDTV DVR 921 that has dual satellite tuner like DVR 522. This model can support HD or high definition technology. If you got an HDTV then this DVR model is ideal for you. HD is referred to the high resolution video system by which you can see true to life crystal clear images on your HDTV screen. This one has a 250 GB hard drive that allows you to do 180 hrs of SD (Standard Definition) recording and 25 hrs of HD recording.
