What should I put them on?

It’s The Year Of The Guitar Masters! Eric Clapton

It’s the year of the guitar masters! Eric Clapton, Joe Satriani, Jonny Lang, Kenny Wayne Shepherd, and Jeff Beck tickets are just a part of the incredible collection of guitarists performing around the US (and beyond) this winter.

The guitar legend Jeff Beck who was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame twice, once as a member of the Yardbirds in 1992, and then as a solo artist in 2009, recently won his fifth Grammy award in the Best Rock Instrumental Performance category for a version of the Beatles’ “Day in the Life”.

Currently Beck is touring along with Eric Clapton. The two guitar icons have both been a part of the British rock band The Yardbirds, but not at the same time. They started their collaboration in 2008 when Beck invited Clapton to join him for a series of gigs in London. A year later they got together for a few shows in Japan and this year they kicked the Eric Clapton US four month tour starting with a dazzling show at the O2 Arena in London.

Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton each perform a set with their own band before doing a joint set. The duo will make a stop in New York, Montreal and Toronto.

Beck will be performing songs from his new album, “Emotion & Commotion,” which is to be released in the middle of April. cheap Jeff Beck tickets The 65-year-old Beck showed what he’s made of when he performed in London accompanied by a large string section and his new touring quartet including whirlwind drummer Narada Michael Walden and bassist Rhonda Smith.

Among the songs Beck chose for his show at the O2 Arena were his interpretation of Benjamin Britten’s “Corpus Christi Carole,” “People Get Ready,” “Big Block,” “Hammerhead,” and the Irish “Elegy for Dunkirk,” with the stunning violin part performed by Sharon Corr.

The combined talent of Jeff Beck and Eric Clapton is probably the hottest combination this season. Tickets are already on sale and are selling quite quickly. Beck is also to tour solo in the UK in October hitting the Bournemouth BIC, Brighton Centre, Birmingham Symphony Hall, Glasgow Clyde Auditorium, Manchester Apollo, Sheffield City Hall, Bristol Colston Hall, Cardiff St David’s Hall and London Royal Albert Hall. His tour will also visit the US and Canada as well as Australasia.

Fender Eric Clapton Stratocaster Review – Unmatched Versatility

April 20, 2010 by admin · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Music

Unless you’ve lived in a cave for the past 15 years, you know that Fender has had no dearth of Artist-inspired musical instruments. One of their earliest offerings is still one of their best, the Eric Clapton model Stratocaster. Though it’s had a few refinements over the years, its versatility and quality remain extremely high.

Since most folks shopping for a Clapton model are already familiar with the basic Stratocaster characteristics, it’s probably best to focus on what makes the Clapton Stratocaster unique.

For starters, there’s the electronics. Throughout his broad career, Eric Clapton has played a variety of instruments, including a Gibson Les Paul, a Gibson SG, a Gibson ES-335, and, of course, a Fender Stratocaster. So it goes without saying that Slowhand needs a guitar that can cover a lot of sonic ground.

Fender has obliged with an astounding amount of sonic versatility in a single instrument. For starters, there’s an active mid-boost control (powered by a 9-volt battery).

When you add this mid-boost control to the Fender Noiseless pickups and the master TBX control, you’ve got a guitar than is a six-string chameleon, capable of emulating a wide variety of useful, tasteful guitar tones. Candidly, the Clapton Strat might be the most versatile guitar we’ve had the good fortune of playing.

The sounds are only part of the picture, though. The playability is top rate as well, owing in no little part to the V-shaped neck with 9.5″ radius. The neck is incredibly smooth and notes fret and bend with ease. It truly is one of the most comfortable necks we’ve ever seen.

We simply can’t laud the tones and playability of the Clapton Strat enough. You’d be hard pressed to ever find a guitar with the range of tones and ease of play as this one.

However, we could still think of some room for improvement, though the propositions are minor. We believe locking tuners would be a wonderful addition, since it’s such a “modern” guitar in all other regards.

We’d also appreciate it if the bridge weren’t blocked, but this is a Clapton Strat, and that’s how he wants it, so there’s not much chance of that changing soon.

The minor “problems” are not really worth worrying about. The Clapton Strat is truly an amazing guitar, and we recommend it strongly. It’s a keeper!

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck Tickets – Dream Team

Eric Clapton and Jeff Beck have often appeared at many a concert together, but they have never shared a ticket…until now. The two guitar aficionados will perform two shows together at the Saitama Super Arena in Japan on February 21 and 22. This is the first time that the pair will be on an official co-bill. In the past they have both appeared next to each other at The Secret Policeman’s Ball for Amnesty International and at the ARMS Concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall. Both events took place in the early 1980s. Fans of the two rock music greats can see the show on the other side of world, tickets are reported to run about an average of $150. They will likely start going on sale in a couple weeks in the United States. For more information, be sure to keep checking back at http://www.stubhub.com/eric-clapton-tickets.

Eric Clapton, also known as “Slowhand” for his intricate guitar-picking style as well as one of his most successful albums of the same name, first launched his solo career with his self-titled debut album in mid-1970. Already, Clapton was a well-established star among the ranks in the music industry, thanks to his associations with the Yardbirds, John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers, Cream and Blind Faith. After his first solo release, Clapton dominated the decade with records that included: 461 Ocean Boulevard, There’s One in Every Crowd, E.C. Was Here, Slowhand and Backless. Several prominent singles arose from the efforts like “Cocaine,” “Lay Down Sally” and “Wonderful Tonight.” A couple decades later, Clapton became famous for another massively successful single, “Tears in Heaven,” which was written for his four-year-old son, who plunged to his death after he fell out of an apartment window. These days, it is still a joy to see Slowhand live in concert with a pair of Eric Clapton tickets.

Jeff Beck may not have achieved the same amount of star power as his contemporaries in the rock music field, but his skill on the guitar is undeniable. Beck started dabbling in the music industry in the 1960s when he joined the Yardbirds after the departure of Eric Clapton, and later formed the Jeff Beck Group with vocalist Rod Stewart and bassist Ron Wood, both of whom went onto have illustrious careers in the industry: Stewart as a solo artist and Wood as a member of the Rolling Stones. After the lineup dissolved, Beck continued releasing various albums periodically including Blow By Blow, which was a collaboration with Jan Hammer, and Wired. Beck would emerge onto the scene, only to disappear again for a years, haphazardly releasing albums and teaming up with his counterparts in the industry, like Mick Jagger and Roger Waters. Most recently, Beck released a live set of songs called Performing This Week: Live at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club in 2008. Any fan has a chance to see him live with a pair of Jeff Beck tickets.

Any Clapton and Beck fan would surely jump at the chance to see these two iconic figures live on stage together. It might be a long trip to get there, but once the lights dim and the strings of the guitars can be heard filtering through the still air, it would surely be worth the flight.

Eric Clapton had given an interview to the magazine “Rolling Stone” which had Eric Clapton the editor make critical points about his guitar playing. This led to an eruption within the band that was the beginning of the end. Despite this setback, the band’s US tour carried on until June, during which they had been recording their most popular project, “Wheels Of Fire”, a double live album that was released in August 1968, shooting to UK #3 and the studio effort of UK #7, but both going directly to US #1 for four weeks. Despite the fact that the band had sold so many records, had sold out nearly every concert, had made millions and even managed to boost “Sunshine Of Your Love” to hit US #5 and UK #25, they decided that after a farewell tour of America the band would split up. The band toured North America in October, played two concerts at the Royal Albert Hall in London in November and the Cream was no more. Claptonexplained, “The Cream has lost direction.

In the winter of 1969 Eric Clapton began jamming with former Traffic front man Stevie Winwood, with Ginger Baker also joining in Eric’s Clapton mansion in Surrey. With bassist Ric Grech added to the lineup, the band became Blind Faith and started rehearsing and recording material. In June after the band finished a recording session for their first and only album, they made their live debut in Hyde Park to a crowd of over 200,000 fans. The concert itself didn’t go too well, however, and Eric Clapton and Winwood were more or less convinced that Blind Faith had blown it. However, despite their feelings, Blind Faith set out on a summer sellout tour of the US, playing in arenas and stadiums all over the country. The tour itself earned the band a fortune, but they were all convinced that the music itself was unsatisfying.

After the tour was over, and their only album, “Blind Faith”, was released, though, it wound up topping the charts worldwide. The band still decided to split up, though, and Eric Clapton went on tour with Delaney & Bonnie & Friends, who were Blind Faith’s support act on the tour, and also performed at times with The Plastic Ono Band.

Eric Clapton surprised his fans in 1992 with an unplugged album that featured “Tears in Heaven”, which surprisingly became his best selling album to date.
Derek and the DominosIn 1994 Eric Clapton released his live album “From the Craddle”, really bluesy, reaching nÂș1 on the Billboard and getting the Grammy as Best Traditional Blues Album. Three years after he would record the studio album “Pilgrim”. Eric Clapton made collaborations with BB King, Santana and Sheril Crow (With whom he had a brief relation), and two years later, in 1999 he married a twenty three year old named Melia McEnery.

In 2001 Eric Clapton released a new album named “Reptile”, and two more in 2004 covering classics of Robert Johnson. From then on he re-united with Cream to give some concerts, and made lots of collaborations with famous artists and tribute & benefit concerts, being remarkable the one to George Harrison, and the release of “The Road to Escondido” in 2006 along with J.J. Cale.
Now a days he is working on a new album along with Robbie Robertson (The Band), with whom Eric Clapton has played some concerts in 2008. Eric Clapton has also been invited to play live in North Korea, the concert should take place sometime in 2009.

Back in the early “90s Eric Clapton and Sting performed a song that appeared on one of the “Lethal Weapon” soundtracks. What is the name of the song and which “Lethal Weapon” soundtrack did it appear on? Just curious. Thanks.
