Is it possible to get a private student loan without a credit history or a co-signer?

I currently have no credit history, and no available co-signer for a private student loan. I have exhausted my availability of government sponsered Stafford loans and Pell grants. I need a private loan in the amount of around 2000 dollars to supplement the remainder of my tuition that will be paid out-of-pocket through working on nights and weekends in two jobs.

We are members of wings financial credit union and we applied for a car loan about 6 weeks ago and got approved, we ended up not taking the loan out because we decided against the car. Now we are for sure going to need the loan out. Do you think that we will have to go through the application process again or will it all still be there in their system!??

How does the personal loan from banks such as Bank of America or Citibank work?

January 17, 2012 by admin · 2 Comments

I just received an offer to apply for a personal loan for up to 35,000 with Bank of America and for up to 5,000 with citibank. I actually need no more than 7,500. The interest rate is between 9,97 and 27,88 based on credit worthyness. I will like to know how it works. I’m hesitating between that and applying for a credit card. My credit score is fair (650). A friend advised me to go for the loan because it’s a guaranteed fixed interest. But since I’ve never done it b4 I will appreciate some more advice. Thanks Much.

What happens if a loan rejection happens after the option period is up and an offer is already made?

I heard FHA loans can take anywhere from 1 to 6 weeks to approve. If our option period is 10 days from today, and we get rejected for our loan 15 days from now, what happens? Do we just lose our earnest money and that’s it? Or is it a more serious problem, as we’ve already made an offer because we were preapproved?

Can a partnership deduct expenses of a loan made by one partner to an outside business?

One partner invested in a business that went bankrupt in less than a year after the initial investment. The partner funded this investment through loans. Many of the creditors were involved and customers of the partnership. As a result, business and revenue for the partnership declined. If the other partners agree to pay off the loan with accumulated earnings can they deduct the loan as a business expense and will there be any tax implications for the partner?

How do Loans work? Why do I have to apply for a Federal Stafford Loan Note first? How important are deadlines?

I’m applying for a Loan. A federal Stafford Loan. Im concerned that I might not get it because the deadline passed since I had to reapply for a Pin number needed to apply which took 7 days to arrive at my house, 2 days past the deadline. Am I screwed? Why is it recommended that I use this kind of Loan. Does it matter?

Does loan processor do most of the application work and running numbers, and does the loan closer actually close the loan verbally over the phone or in person? Any loan processors or closers out there. I have a chance to interview for a loan closer position as a temp to perm hire. Also I would like to know if its easy to get started as i have no experience with loans as you already can guess. thx

What happens if I paid off my entire student loan but they still applied my tax rebate to it?

December 13, 2011 by admin · 2 Comments

I paid off my entire defaulted student loan at the beginning of this month. I even received a paid in full letter. But today I just got a letter from the IRS that my $600 was applied to that loan by offset!! Apparently there wasn’t enough time between when I paid off the loan and then getting my rebate. I just tried to call the Missouri Department of Education, which my loan is through, but they are closed for the day. Does anyone know if I can get my $600 back??? :(

What is the difference between a federal loan from a univeristy and one from a bank?

What is the difference. For example typically your financial aid office will award you say a federal Stafford loan and you just sign the promissory note for the lender.

But what is the difference from doing that through your school and actually going to a bank, IE Chase, and applying for a Federal Stafford Loan through the bank? Is it the same thing or is there a benefit from getting it through the school?

If the school doesn’t award you a loan can you apply for it through the bank or are you automactially ineligible?
