The blue lazer light of the blu-ray technology can squeeze the HD-video of more than 4 hours on a single sided DVD disk. The blu-ray DVD disk format has the latest technology and for next generation is the preferred choice for the storage removal. The blue lazer used in the blu-ray drives give better results and performance than the traditional DVD drives that use the red lazer. The DVD can store up to 4.7 Gigabytes of data, and the single sided blu-ray DVD disk can store 27 Gigabytes of data. The backers of bluray disk that work on the dual layer disk have capacity to store data of 50 GB. The bluray format gives high performance with the high-definition T.V displays. The quality of the picture in HDTV is greater than the picture display by the other traditional televisions.

There is tuff competition between the traditional DVD’s and the bluray format DVDs. The high definition DVD is backed by Toshiba & NEC. While the bluray disc format is supported by group of magor companies like the sony, Philips, samsing and Hitachi. Now that the HP and dell are supporting the blu-ray technology, the sales of the Blu-ray discs will increase and will be the market leader. The DVD+RW efficiently compete against the formats of DVD-R and DVD-RW. Because of the low number of customers the DVD recorders and burners were forced in market even though they were not popular and accepted by the customers. The electronic products like the analog TV and DVD players are commodities. The movie industry as well as the consumers prefers the blu-ray media.

The purpose of the blu-ray BD disk format was to support the recording of the HD video, media applications and the movie distribution. The appearance of the blu-ray BD disk is similar to that of the Compact disk (CD) or the Digital Versatile Disk (DVD). Dual layer DVD can store 9 GB and the dual layer Blu-ray disk can store 50 GB of data. The wave length of the blue lazer used for blu-ray recording is very narrow. Therefore, similar physical space of the disc can hold more volume of data. The high definition multi-media interface helps to connect the media devices (projectors and high definition DVD players). 25 GB data can be stored on a single layer blu-ray disk and 50 GB of data on the dual layer blu-ray disk.

This recording and play back can be done on both the recordable BD-R & rewritable BD-RE disks. By using the BD-AV blu-ray format, the users can use standard definition or the high definition for authoring blu-ray disk that can be played in standalone blu-ray player. The standard definition can be recorded from the analog source. SD can also be transferred directly form the digital video camcorders. So, the high definition material of two hours can be stored on single layer blu-ray disc of 25GB.

The BD-ROM format fulfills the movie industry’s requirement for distribution of the “HD commercial videos” on the prerecorded BD-ROM. It has the features of the Digital Versatile Disk (DVD) and also supports the multi-channel audio, high definition, and features of network. NEC and Toshiba both developed the high definition DVD (HD-DVD) format. Both the blu-ray and the HD-DVD are quite different formats.

Also supports the copyfrees solution. Would be nice if the unit provided NAS support, but if you know telnet commands the unix cp command works fine. Their is a network copy command using menues from the remote, but what fun is that. The suplied software will only format a 500gb disk, haven’t tried to format 1.5tb to fat32 using fat32format yet. Does not support NTFS for writes, reads work fine.

All About Digital Video Recording (DVR)

The DVR technology is used for two purposes- either to record channels or for surveillance.

Surveillance

The system can be used to monitor such homes and businesses which are in need for advanced security measures. Once this device is connected to a Personal Computer, it will help you to watch a particular area 24 hours of the day. If your business is diversified and you have offices in a number of countries all over the world, the DVR device makes it possible for you to keep an eye on activities in your London and Atlanta organization. This is possible because the DVR can be connected to the World Wide Web which will allow you to view images as and when they are formed.

The machine has impressive storage capacity and will allow the user to store recorded footage for over two months. One can do away with old-fashioned videotapes and avoid loss of important data by depending on this technology.
The surveillance system consists of a number of components, namely, motion sensors, zoom controlling, multiplexer, CCTV connections and color quad processors. The zoom control is extremely beneficial as it will make it possible for you to view every corner of the targeted room. This way, you can make do with a single camera.  The motion sensor helps to capture moving images. Therefore, you will not have to sit through hours of recorded footage as the DVR will only begin recording when motion is noticed. This also helps to save space on the memory card. The footage can then be transferred onto a CD or Pen Drive if it needs to be sent over to a third party.

The moving image can then be separated which makes it easier for the concerned party to recognize faces. Some machines also make it possible to record audio. Safety is ensured if you buy a DVR which is why most malls and banks are demanding the machine more and more.

Record Channels

If you are fond of sitcoms and can’t catch them at the right time, no matter how hard you try- a DVR or a Digital Video Recorder is the answer to all your prayers. Several companies manufacture this equipment which makes it difficult for the customer to make a choice. Apart from doing adequate research about the company’s credibility, you must also keep a number of features in mind. This will ensure that you buy the right DVR.
Different types of recorders are available in the market today such as –
Stand Alone Recorder, Set-Top Box, Computer Digital Video Recorders and Portable Digital Video Recorders.

Hikvision

Hikvision DVRs are very popular and has been given a number of awards for outstanding service. It offers the DS-8000 series which includes features like dual stream function and multiple playback. This series includes six models- details are available on the company’s website. Hikvision also offers the DS-7000 series which supports CIF recording which includes two models, namely, DS-7000HI-S Series Network DVR and DS-7204HVI-S Network DVR. Hikvision also stocks up on a special series which offers the above mentioned features.

Could you hold your video camera in your hand? No? Then you need the Flip Video Camcorder to get with the program.

Expand Your DVR’s Recording and Storage Capabilities

Dish Network DVR’s have the most recording and storage space available in the industry. Still, with all of the great programming available these days, the need for more storage space may at some point become an issue. Consider a DVR External Hard Disk Drive as a solution. Dish Network’s ViP-Series DVR’s are compatible with USB 2.0 hard disk drives. These drives can increase your DVR’s storage capacity by more than 400 hours of standard digital recording and nearly 100 hours of high-definition recording.

An external hard disk drive (HDD) makes it possible to save all of your favorites and not be forced to delete a program to make room for more. Dish Network has announced that any future DVR’s manufactured will be compatible with this technology, but for now Dish has three models that will work; the ViP612 DVR, ViP622 DVR and the ViP722 DVR.

To get started simply connect a compatible USB 2.0 hard disk drive to a compatible Dish Network receiver. You will be able to view content from the HDD, or transfer content back to the DVR. All major brand name external HDD’s sold in stores are compatible. Although USB is the most popular choice for hard disk drives, it is preferable to use one with an external power supply. Which ever you choose, be sure to dedicate that drive for DVR purposes only. Using the HDD for computer files may cause corruption of your programming content.

When the HDD is connected for the first time, you will be prompted to reformat the drive – If you choose to, anything previously stored on that drive will be lost. If you choose not to reformat you will not be able to transfer content from your DVR. Be sure to remove anything of importance before reformatting.

The supported Dish Network DVR receivers have two USB 2.0 ports on the back panel. At this time only one device such as an HDD or a PocketDish device can be connected to the receiver at a time. If you connect two devices simultaneously the DVR will simply ignore the last device connected. The trick here is to fully install and format the first device to the DVR, then install and format a second if you wish. This will allow you to dedicate one drive for let’s say movies and the other for sports. If you choose to remove the HDD you can watch or transfer the content to other compatible DVR receivers, however the receiver must be registered on the same customer account.

Transferring content is easy with Dish Networks’ user-friendly interface. From the Dish Multimedia Menu simply select USB Storage. From here you will be given two choices; Manage Device – this will allow you to see a list of programs already stored on the HDD and Send to Device – this is the option to transfer DVR programming from the My Recordings list on your DVR receiver to the HDD. If a program on your DVR contains copy protection it may impact your ability to transfer to the HDD. If it does, a pop-up message with more information will appear. For more information on copy protection restrictions visit www.dishnetwork.com and search for “copy protection.”

Within Manage Device you will find options to Restore – transfer programming from the HDD back to the DVR receiver, Play – watch programming directly from the HDD and Delete – remove programming from the HDD.

Many people think about business issues everyday. When they do, they consult these business resources to figure out answers to their problems.

External Hard Disk Drive compatibility is just another example of Dish Networks continuing technology advantage in the industry and one more reason you need Dish Network.

Ultimax – the Market Leader in Digital Cctv Recording

September 23, 2009 by admin · Leave a Comment
Filed under: Great Gadgets

ULTIMAX is a series of 3rd generation digital video recorders (see –> DIPOL ULTIMAX offer), with implemented, so far the most efficient, H.264 compression. This type of deep compression is characterized by capability of providing good video quality at substantially lower bitrates than the previous standards. The standard was developed jointly in a partnership of VCEG and MPEG, and is marked as H.264/AVC, AVC/H.264, H.264/MPEG-4 AVC, or MPEG-4/H.264 AVC (AVC – Advanced Video Coding).

Network digital video recorders of ULTIMAX series are excellent digital surveillance products. Equipped with embedded MCU and dedicated real-time operating system (RTOS), they combine the most advanced electronic and computer technologies, such as efficient video and audio encoding/decoding, hard disk recording (support of virtually unlimited disc capacity), and TCP/IP protocols. The firmware is stored in flash memory, and can be easily updated.

Any device from the ULTIMAX series has both the features of a digital video recorder (DVR) and digital video server (DVS). It can work as stand-alone device, or be used to build powerful surveillance networks, widely used in banks, telecommunication companies, transportation, factories, warehouses etc.

The DVRs, being very versatile, support many special functions allowing cooperation with POS terminals, ATM/cash machines etc.

ULTIMAX-716

he basic criterion for actual quality of video monitoring system is ability of identifying people from the recorded video data and possibility of handing over the archives on original storage media for legal proceedings. ULTIMAX 7xx DVRs fulfill state requirements for video coverage of mass events in Poland and majority of other countries.

Due to efficient H.264/AVC compression it is possible to record D1 images (704 x 576) at 25 fps (PAL) from each channel (camera). It means that the ULTIMAX-716 (16 channels) is capable of recording up to 400 fps with D1 resolution.

ULTIMAX 7xx DVRs end the era of frame by frame analysis. The playback of D1 images at 25 fps is similar to watching quality TV transmission or a DVD film rather than the typical jumps from image to image in the previous CCTV systems.

ULTIMAX-716 has huge storage potential – after installing eight HDDs with 2000GB (2TB) capacity each, the total disc space amounts to 16 TB. It allows to create enormous archives. Even in the case of simultaneous and continuous recording of video data from all 16 channels, with D1 resolution and maximum bitrate (8000 Kbps, it is enough for 285 hours, i.e. nearly 12 days and nights. Such archives would deliver DVD quality.

It is possible to test the actual frame rate by analyzing the images frame by frame and using a frame counter. Comparing the displayed time and the counter indications it is easy to prove the 25 fps rate.

Because of network operation, the priority is adequate security level. To protect the system and data against unauthorized access, there is multi-level access control, with passwords and defined privileges for local and network management (e.g. viewing images from cameras, accesses to archives, system setup). There can be defined MAC addresses of the computers capable of getting access to the DVR resources.

Rear panel of the ULTIMAX-716

The DVR enables the administrator/operator to set resolution and frame rate independently for each camera. There is possibility of defining channels that are to be recorded after triggering alarm in a camera path, with long pre- and post-alarm periods.

Network software allows to manage several DVRs and other ULTIMAX and ULITCAM devices (video servers and IP cameras). Easy operation thanks to user-friendly graphic interface, including mouse pointer.

There is possibility of embedding maps (BMP files with deployment of cameras) which enable the operator of a bigger monitoring system to quickly localize the spots and manage the surveillance network.

Due to cooperation with external recorders/devices (CD/DVR, hard disc, USB flash drives) connected via USB port, it is easy to backup, review and playback the recordings.

DVR can get text/number strings through RS-232 or network port. The strings can be sent from devices such as ATM/cash machine, POS machine or others. DVR can paste the strings into the real time image and record. The same strings (entered from numeric keyboard) can be used as keys for searching the recorded files to play them back.

There are available the following ULTIMAX DVRs:
