Help Discovering Classic Rock in Led Zeppelin and Pink Floyd?
I recently discovered some classic rock artists who blew me away with their awesome sound and I want to learn more about them. I loved Pink Floyd’s “Welcome to the Machine” and Led Zeppelin’s “Whole Lotta Love”.
Do you guys have any suggestion for albums or other songs that I can get from these bands? Thanks!
I have had it with these “people finder” companies that claim that I can find anyone for free and then they charge me. So, I searched for totally free people find and this worked. I found a site that lets me find people’s phone numbers for free, really free!
What early Pink Floyd song did I see being performed on the show Rock City?
I could tell that it was early Pink Floyd since it was extremely trippy and psychadelic. It had no lyrics, just an instrumental with a lot of weird sounds and noises. I don’t know too much about Pink Floyd, but I really liked this song and would like to know the name of it or where I could possibly find it online.

Repeating Fast Guitar Rock Licks
Hey Everybody! Heres some of the best repeating rock licks you can use with any of your solos / improvisations. I’m sure you’ve heard these licks in countless rock solos, From Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Jimmy Page to Joe Satriani (just to name a few).
Tips
We’ll be using the A minor pentatonic scale with the following licks, practice them slowly at first, get the mechanics of them (Picking directions, Hammer-ons, Pull-offs) and then you can start to build up the speed. Always use a metronome and play each note clearly.
Licks
Rock Lick # 4
This lick can be used as a transition to other licks but sounds great just by itself too.
Start with a down-stroke on the 7th fret G-string then an up-stroke on the 5th fret B string followed by a hammer-on to the 8th fret and pull-off to the 5th fret B-string.
Alternatively you can bend the 7th fret G-string a half-step to give it a more bluesy sound.
Rock Lick # 3
Eric Clapton makes great use of this Lick, Its bluesy, fast and really effective!
Start with a down-stroke on the 8th fret B-string then an up-stroke on the 5th fret E-string, a down-stroke on the 8th fret E-string, up-stroke on the 5th fret E-string and finish it up with a hammer-on to the 8th fret and a pull-off to the 5th fret E-string.
Alternatively you can start with a down-stroke on the 8th fret B-string then an up-stroke on the 5th fret E-string and a hammer-on to the 8th fret and a pull-off to the 5th fret E-string for a simpler lick.
Rock Lick # 2
This is a very simple lick but sounds very fast and powerful! Jimi Hendrix and Jimmy Page used this all the time for a nice thrilling effect.
Bar the 5th fret of the B & E strings with your index finger, start with an up-stroke on the 8th fret E-string the pull-off the the 5th and finish it with a down-stroke on the 5th fret B-string.
Rock Lick # 1
In my opinion, this is the fastest, coolest, most rockin’ sounding lick, but also the hardest to master.
Bar the B & E-strings on the 5th fret, start with an up-stroke on the 7th fret G-string and bend it up a whole-step, then a down-stroke on the 5th fret B-string, up-stroke 5th fret E-string, down-stroke 8th fret B-string (but keep the pick between the G & the B-string) and finish with a pull-off to the 5th fret B-string and repeat.
Final Tips
Practice these rock licks daily and use them in your playing as much as possible and you’ll master them in no-time!, I’m sure they’ll really help you when soloing and improvising. The purpose of this lesson is not to teach you specific licks but to Show you the concepts behind them and hopefully help you come up with your own licks.
There are many variations to each one of these licks, by simply adding a note or two, playing them in different octaves, using different scales, playing them in a different scale positions etc. For more Ideas, Phrases & Exercises, Click Here! Rock Guitar Lessons – A Proven Way For You To Pursue This Dream
Are you the person who has always wanted to learn rock guitar? Do you love listening to rock music on your I-pod, Walkman, or home surround-sound stereo system wishing that you could play like some of those musicians? 10 to 15 years ago, you were limited in learning how to play the guitar in this style. Now, one of the most popular and successful ways to learn to play is to take rock guitar lessons online.
The period beginning in the late 60âs through the mid 70âs is when several famous rock guitar musicians caused the popularity of the instrument to explode, worldwide. On Internet sites such as you-tube, videos have been legally posted in which you can see the classic playing styles of Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, and Jimmy Page. Unlike the other two, Jimi Hendrix became famous more for being a featured solo artist as opposed to his being a member of a prominent group. In songs such as âWatch Towerâ and âHey, Joeâ, Hendrixâs brilliance can be seen through his virtuoso improvisation and dexterity on the guitar.
Eric Clapton became famous first in the mid 60âs group âCreamâ. âSunshine of Your Loveâ remains one of the most famous opening guitar riffs, played by Clapton, in rock history. I also personally like a song composed by Clapton when he became more of a solo artist in the early 80âs called âSheâs Waitingâ. In the middle of the song, Clapton improvises with a brilliant and emotional expansion on the opening theme.
Jimmy Page, the British rock guitarist was a member, first of the mid-60âs group called the âYardbirdsâ. A few years later, Page along with Robert Plant as lead singer, John Paul Jones on bass guitar, and the late, great John Bonham on drums, formed the quartet known as âLed Zeppelinâ. âStairway to Heavenâ is commonly known as the groupâs most well-known recording. Many followers of âZeppelinâ believe, however, that the song âDazed and Confusedâ was the groupâs most brilliant work. With Jones providing a brilliant, repeating bass line on his guitar, Jimmy Page on lead guitar has a stunning solo improvisation in the middle of the song. Jimmy Page also broke new ground by using a bow string, (used for playing the violin, viola, cello, or string bass in an orchestra) to create the most amazing sounds on his lead guitar. If you have heard of this song, but not seen it performed on video; you would owe it to yourself to find it on the Internet just to watch the sheer brilliance of these rock musicians.
I hope in discussing these 3 great musicians, that I have heightened your interest in taking lessons. Interactive, online lessons for rock guitar have been proven to be an advantage; compared to what was available even 10 years ago. Back then, you would have been limited in getting the type of quality instruction allowing you to improve your playing skills on the instrument. Basically, you would have had to personally know an instructor who could teach you all of the technique in this style of playing. Even then, the mentor might not have been capable of clearly communicating his/her instructions in a manner making it easy for you to understand as he/she taught. In addition, a good quality teacher might have only been available in a music studio for several hours per day; and at a time which was really not the best for you.
Good quality online guitar programs would include video as well as audio/text tutorials; giving you a number of ways to learn songs in addition to the technique required allowing you to improve on the instrument. You should be able to download the teaching lessons right to your computer, or have the option of purchasing DVDâs monthly from the site. The ability to learn at your own pace and from the comfort of your home is another major advantage in learning how to play the instrument online.
If you are interested in taking rock guitar lessons, choosing to take online instruction now presents the best choice for you. Do your due diligence by first researching a program that offers exactly what you are seeking. Not all interactive, online programs are equal as far as the opportunities that they are able to offer to you. Some of the best programs however, could have you one day sounding like a Clapton, Hendrix, or Page! HOME COOKING: Hard Rock Cafe Recipes You Can Cook At Home – Rock Your World Chicken Quesadillas – prepare a delicious meal to impress family, friends
With its classic Rock & Roll theme and great chef-prepared meals, the HARD ROCK CAFE is a fantastic place to eat.
Back in the 70’s, Eric Clapton – the original guitar god, founder of Cream and Derek & the Dominoes, writer of the immortal “Layla” – liked to eat at this quirky American restaurant in London, England, called the Hard Rock Cafe.
The diner was this funky old building that used to be a Rolls Royce dealership. It was run by a couple of young American guys who liked to keep it loose. Hard Rock Cafe was an instant classic. You could be yourself at the Hard Rock. It was good food and a good time.
So Clapton got to be friends with the American duo and asked them to save him a regular table – put up a brass plaque or something. And the young proprietors said, “Why don’t we put up your guitar?” They all had a chuckle, and he handed over a guitar, and they slapped it on the wall.
No one thought much more about it. Until a week later, when another guitar arrived (a Gibson Les Paul, by the way). With it was a note from Pete Townshend of The Who which read: “Mine’s as good as his. Love, Pete.”
The young proprietors put it on the wall. After that, the guitars never stopped coming.
The restaurant franchise continues this practice today with Hard Rock Cafes in more than thirty countries worldwide. Each Hard Rock Cafe is filled with Rock & Roll collectibles. Many famous musical artists continue to donate items to the restaurants.
Hard Rock Cafe features fun menu items like Blackened Chicken Penne Pasta, Hickory Smoked Chicken & Spinach Dip, Famous Pig Sandwich, Love Me Chicken Tenders with Honey Mustard Sauce, Rock Your World Chicken Quesadillas and their Purple Haze Mixed Drink.

–Hard Rock Cafe Grilled Vegetable Sandwich–
6 Tbl Mayonnaise
1/2 ts Fresh Parsley — Chopped
Dried Oregano
Salt to taste
1 Red Bell Pepper
1 sm Zucchini
1 Yellow Summer Squash
1/4 Eggplant
1/4 c Olive Oil
2 Sourdough French Roll
1 TB Parmesan Cheese — Grated
8 Onion Ring Slices
4 slices Tomato
2 Pieces Red Leaf Lettuce
Preheat the barbecue or stovetop grill.
To prepare spread, put 3 tbsp of the mayo into a small bowl and add the parsley, oregano, and a pinch of salt. Set this and the remaining mayo aside until you’re ready to make the sandwich.
Prepare the bell pepper by cutting it into quarters and seeding it. Brush the entire surface with olive oil. Slice the zucchini, squash, and eggplant into lengthwise slices with oil as well.
Cook the red pepper on a hot grill for 2 or 3 mintues. At that point add the remaining vegetables to the grill and cook everything for 4 to 5 minutes or until all the vegetables are tender.
Be sure to salt the vegetables and turn them halfway through the cooking time. When the veggies are tender and begin to char, remove them from the grill and prepare each sandwich by first cutting the french rolls in half lengthwise through the middle. Spread the parsley-mayo mixture over the bottom of the rolls.
Arrange the zucchini onto the rolls. Stack the yellow squash and then the eggplant.
Peel the skin off the red peppers and then add to the sandwiches. Arrange the onions over the peppers. Divide the parmesan cheese and sprinkle it over the peppers. Arrange the onions and tomato slices next.
Add the lettuce and spread the mayo on the top of the rolls. Close sandwiches and cut in half. Pierce each half with a toothpick and serve.
Dig In and Enjoy!

The Greatest Rock Guitarist – Who Is He?
It seems that rock guitar players have always been a crowd pleaser, even going back to the days of Les Paul. He may not qualify as a rock guitarist in the sense that we understand it today, but Les Paul certainly made people sit up and take notice whenever he played. Of course, Les was in at the very beginning of the solid body electric guitar’s entry onto the stage, so at that time there were very few guitarists who were even interested enough to get the technique to become a great rock guitarist.
The foundation of the concept of the rock guitarist lay in the consolidation of the small group with drums, bass, lead and rhythm guitars, plus, maybe a keyboard. Groups like The Shadows, The Ventures and Dick Dale’s Dell Tones made young men go out and buy guitars and sit in their rooms for hours practicing. When The Beatles became the first small group to gain international attention from people of all ages, the guitar reached the height of its popularity.
The era of the great rock guitarist began in the late sixties with Eric Clapton in Cream. But as with all innovations, there was someone else working on his flamboyant guitar technique in another part of the world. Jimi Hendrix’s first appearance in England made Eric Clapton feel a little insecure on his throne, as his guitar playing and stagecraft hypnotized audiences. The extended guitar solo was born, along with its dull-witted siblings the bedroom guitar and the garage band.
If we think about who we consider to be the world’s greatest rock guitarist, names from the sixties and seventies, like Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton immediately appear in our heads. Indeed, most people who vote in polls about this sort of thing seem to go for Hendrix – a guitarist who had a very short life about forty years ago.
These are guitarists who became famous when loudness was king of rock guitar and flashy technique was its gay partner, but what about the guitarists whose names are not generally known, even though they were with popular bands? Pete Ham of Badfinger springs to mind, or Jerry Miller of Moby Grape. Mick Ronson was an English guitar player who made a name for himself as David Bowie’s lead guitarist, and Mike Campbell, Tom Petty’s guitarist for about a zillion years is admired by many guitar players but unknown to the general public. There are lots of guitarists in bands now whose approach to music is very different from the rock guitarists of previous decades, even though their debt to the music of the seventies is obvious. The question of who is the greatest rock guitarist of all time will continue with more names being added to the mix as time goes on.
